A small 2 x 4 layout to get my feet wet.

Took delivery of a small package from Banzai Hobby today.

I was able to test the top level layout and made some minor changes for better running. (second half of the video)

I think I'm getting close to a final layout plan. The base has now grown to 1220mm x 810mm (size of the uncut plywood).

Please make suggestions. I will point out that I do like a track heavy layout.

The bottom level will be a station with two platforms, a single sided and island. It will run three trains with two being controlled by the Tomix 5574. I'll most likely run three 4 car series 0 shinkansen and swap between three the JR 485 series (Tomix 98548) and similar, which I'll collect over time as funds permit. On the 5574, I might try to setup a dead section on both loops in the middle off the tunnel with a variable timer so the trains take extra time to re-appear.

The upper level will have small freight and local passenger service (between two small stations), maybe a 2 or 3 car train. Suggestions very welcome.
