3D printing

I know there are at least a couple of users here 3D printing, but I thought it might be useful to have a thread on the topic. Also, my wife just got me this for my birthday.

I also make scale models and paint figures, so I'm looking forward to learning all about this. I also just downloaded Blender, which look a bit intimidating TBH.

Since I do 3D printing and work with Blender to model my things. You can ask your questions. I'm working with an Anycubic Photon M3, so I can't really help with your specific printer.

But a good thing to do would be to learn about your printing settings and minimal values for printing with your model and resin. That means:

What is the thinnest thing you can possibly print to have a safe individual part?

What is the smallest indent that you can still see after printing and painting (for example joints between bricks)?

What is the smallest extent that you can still see after printing and painting (like a bolt being still visible)?

These would be important measurements while modeling and printing, it will take some testing to figure everything out and some models will still need some adjustments to look perfectly.

To Blender:

I model everything in real-life scale and later scale the STL-File in the slicing software (for me that is Chitubox). Just export the standard Blender cube which is 2x2 meters and scale it so the measurements in the slicer match the scale you want. Blender also has a bunch of tutorials on YouTube just search for your version. That should give you 99% of the things you will need I think.

If you got any more questions just go ahead and ask.

Great good to have a general 3D printing topic. Just to cross post we also have an index topic on 3D print projects and files folks have posted on the forums.
