RS18U
Looking to put an order in at Plaza Japan and the shipping options are DHL and Japan Post (DHL is about 20% cheaper). I am concerned with the way courier companies do their brokerage fees here in Canada so was wondering if it would be better via JP and I would guess Canada Post at this end and not have to worry about unknown fees from DHL. Anyone with experience on this? I know too many people who have been hit hard with fees from UPS and FedEx so I am cautious; when ordering from the US I always USPS and never the others. Edit: I should mention that when we get packages from my wife's family and our friends in Japan there are never any fees and they send via Japan Post. bill937ca
I prefer EMS. It is fast and usually tax plus handling fee is only charged if the value is over $100. The handling fee is $9.95. So I prefer smaller orders. DHL always charges HST plus a handling fee of $19.95 no matter the value. 3 Link to comment
RS18U
Thanks @bill937ca. I chatted with several of my local MR buddies as well and all agree go postal for orders coming from outside Canada. The brokerage fees can be brutal from the courier companies. So I picked JP (EMS) when I checked out my order at Japan Plaza this morning. 2 Link to comment
