bc6
Today while scrolling YouTube I came across a great DIY foam locomotive cradle that someone used in their video so I wanted to share it with you guys. Its free and uses some of those extra foam inserts doing nothing in a box somewhere, There are more pics on my blog. Edited April 30 by bc6 4 Link to comment

cteno4
I think we had a contest once for folsk to figure out what to do with these inserts, but this seems the most useful thing yet. i have used the as pin cushions to hold scalpel and xacto blades (at times they can be maddeningly hard to pick up flat on a table. ive also used the as a base/pin cushion to hold little parts glued or tackied to toothpicks for working on. jeff Link to comment

bc6
@bill937ca I have the Cosmic stand too and believe it or not I like my DIY cradle better and it was free to make. @cteno4 Ive seen people use the foam piece to hold small parts that needed to be spray painted as well. Link to comment

I use dollar store flower foam as well for that, but it can get crumbly with time. Another is gluing a bunch of 1” strips of corrugated cardboard together and using the corrugated side to poke sticks into. jeff 1 Link to comment
