IsaacK
Hi all, first proper post, wife and I are moving to a new house, it has a garage as well as multiple Sheds, one of which I will commandeer for a layout! plan wise this is my attempt, based on a plan from one of the Ikeda Layout books, but modified with better radius curves where possible, and #6 turnouts for the mainline. A harbour or small port branch line that is nothing too fancy, but also enough room to run short EMUs or DMUs, maybe the odd freight. 8 Link to comment
RS18U
Oooh, I like this! The tunnel is great as it gets away from that 2 lines look. Just be careful of access to the turnouts under the bridge for maintenance. Also, do you have access to all sides? If not consider how you will get the back as that is a pretty long reach at 1.1m. freescopesdad
I would ask first, how big is your shed? Keep in mind that a 4x8 foot table layout is also going to require at least 2 feet of aisle space on each side for access, ergo your shed needs to be a minimum of 8x12 feet. That said, have you considered an around-the-walls shelf layout to maximize your layout size? Whatever you choose to do, good luck and have fun. Ron Link to comment
bill937ca
So 43 inches by 90 inches. A 4' x 8' sheet of plywood would be 48 x 96 inches. Only one track? That might loose its appeal after a short time. It could be part double track like at a station with some dead end sidings parallel to the main line. This could be sidings for a (disused)freight shed or small engine house. Link to comment
