Ian Loh
Hi Everyone! The wife and I have been travelling around Japan via rail for close to a decade now. On recent trips, we've been exploring the more rural parts of Japan, and have been astounded by the incredible charm of the quieter railway stations. On our last trip, we thought we'd take more photos and videos to share with friends and fellow enthusiasts. So, presenting 5 Stations of Shiga - mostly on the Ohmi Railway 近江鉄道株式会社 - hope you'll enjoy them as much as we did! JR East
@Ian Loh Many thanks for the video. The embedded one is particularly charming, nice recording and nice music too. A very good example of what a good 5' video can be. Thumb up ! JM. 2 Link to comment

katoftw
Nice region surrounding Biwako. As population has not increased or has decreased in the past 3 decades. The railways has just kinda frozen in time. Edited March 15 by katoftw 2 Link to comment

When I see the century-old benches, I wonder at what scenes they've witnessed over the years. Thanks for the welcome, folks sure are friendly here! 3 Link to comment
Ian Loh
@katoftw "The railways has just kinda frozen in time." It sure felt like it, particularly the trains and stations of the Ohmi Railway! I've shot some footage of the trains as well, will be making a video of them in future. Some really interesting controls, particularly when the driver inserted this ornate rod: Edited March 14 by Ian Loh 4 Link to comment

Fun look at parallels and contrasts using the bench as the thing that ties them all together. Everything revolves around taking the train and using the bench. Hmmm treatment time!
