Jaco3011
Hi Not sure where should I post it, but here it goes: What are the most well-known Japanese youtube channels about model trains? The measure used is number of subscribers, which isn't the best measure / indicator, but it greatly helps sorting things. GeorgeHInch
YokomoMark2 quit YouTube a couple of months ago. I’m not really sure why but it would seem we shouldn’t really expect a ton more there other than occasional music things. There are a couple I really love to watch, so to add to your list: https://youtube.com/@CityscapeStudio (186k) - incredibly detailed dioramas with lengthy build videos https://youtube.com/@dioramafujihira (13k) - shorter scratch building videos of local buildings https://youtube.com/@hito-hira (11k) - 3D printing track viaduct (which IMO is insanely cool) https://youtube.com/@shin-yukari - actually a member here ( @Madsing ) and adds a lot of fun animation elements. https://youtube.com/@ozmofactory7331 (2k) - scratch building station Not all of these are over the numbers you listed but I think there is something very worth watching from these modelers. disturbman
I don't think number of subscribers is a useful metric. If the content is good, who cares about how popular a channel is? 3 Link to comment
cteno4
Subscribers and hits is not always a great metric. There are a lot of variables with YouTube and channels. But having a nice list of decent channels is great. jeff Link to comment
GeorgeHInch
Not to co-op the thread but I mostly agree with the others above. It would be interesting to see some of the quality, lesser known channels too! Link to comment
bill937ca
There are lots of videos in the Inspirational Scenery & Layouts thread. 1 Link to comment

SwallowAngel
My two personal favourites when it comes to running vids: RAIL MEMORY: https://www.youtube.com/@RAILMEMORY-E231K-17 日本国鉄道 Japanese National Railways: https://www.youtube.com/@JapaneseNationalRailways2020 While not particularly "educational" when it comes to modelling, they both provide great running references for the model pictured IMO (in other words it helps me persuade my wallet to open for another order) 2 Link to comment
Ekiben
I've been working hard to binge watch the small layouts built by @kscafe7 this past week. Extra points because of his focus on Shikoku and easy 100-Yen shop. scenery techniques. (In Japanese) https://www.youtube.com/@kscafe7 Link to comment
bc6
Great thread I subscribe to a few of the YouTubers listed here, Im always looking for more content. Im not a Japanese YouTuber but I do model Japanese N scale trains exclusively 😁 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPMaS0e7MCtS-SPhbKWNSCg Edited March 7 by bc6 Link to comment
Jaco3011
Why was this thread moved to N-gauge section? Link to comment
cteno4
It’s about modeling and not prototypes (was posted in prototypes forum) and n gauge is by far the biggest scale in n gauge modeling in Japan and we have no general modeling forum, it’s split by scales n and others. Sometimes things dot have a perfect home and it has to get out where it just the best fit. if have video channels that are specifically HO and/or other gauges then start a parallel post(s) in HO and other gauge forum. jeff Link to comment

It fits neither N and "other gauges" because it's about both at once. Eg. eneloop does N and H0. I don't browse N-gauge section at all, so I wouldn't see this thread if I weren't the OP. Edited March 11 by Jaco3011 Noticed that there is already non-N youtuber on the list. Link to comment
cteno4
Yes this is one of the few overall general model railroading posts that happen and we don’t have an overall general model railroading forum. It’s defitily not something for the prototype forum. Since it has to go in N or other scales forms it went in M as that’s the 800lb gorilla in Japan. as I said if you find Ho or other gauge/scale specific videos or channels start a modeling video topic in the HO and other scales forum. i think we’ve beaten the topic to death. jeff Link to comment
Jaco3011
Congratulations for: Kaji's railroad model room (https://www.youtube.com/@kscafe7) for reaching 10k subscribers @Madsing (https://www.youtube.com/@shin-yukari) for reaching 200 subscribers Link to comment
Kamome
Didn’t see these ones listed, apologies if I missed them. Nagi Mugi Railway Some great modelling and scratch building on N scale home layout and rolling stock. Japanese only, and tends not to present to camera, more adds text overlays. Most recent video has added a computer voice, which I’m not a fan of. https://youtube.com/@nagimugirailway Syakawa Great progress of a Ueno station model. https://youtube.com/@syakawa Ozmo Factory Some great examples of scenery diorama and structure modelling. https://youtube.com/@ozmofactory Chamioka’s Railway Hobbies Mainly HO rolling stock detailing and running. https://youtube.com/@chamioka Link to comment

Jaco3011
Does "explaining things using model railway" count? I think yes, I just want to ask y'all to be sure. https://youtube.com/@kagemithu Link to comment
