Kotori
Hello again, I am looking to build up my rolling stock roster. Would any of you happen to know which Kato Japanese freight locomotives are DCC ready, as in simple plug-and-play decoder installation? I am starting with DC but will eventually switch to DCC, and would prefer to avoid soldering as much as I can since I don’t want to risk ruining an expensive/hard to find loco. Takahama Trainwatcher
Hi Kotori, Have you seen this thread: https://jnsforum.com/community/topic/14697-kato-dcc-friendly-database/#comment-182807 The link there has a list of what people have found to work. For instance, from rows 264 and 393 there are some Kato locomotives entered. Edited January 18 by Takahama Trainwatcher Link to comment
Kotori
@Takahama Trainwatcher I have! It’s a great resource, but I’m still quite new to the hobby so I’m not entirely sure what locomotives the sheet is listing. As far as I’m aware what’s listed as “Yes” on the sheet appears to mean that a decoder can be fitted, regardless of whether or not it needs to be soldered. Of a few of them listed as “Yes”, when I check the manuals on Kato’s website, makes no mention of being DCC ready. Either that, or I’m just misunderstanding it cause I’m completely new at this.
