railsquid
AFAIK they only run as pure E235-1000 units, with a 11 car set coupled to a 4-car set (or is it 10/5 cars?). The E231s/E233s on the Tokaido/Tohoku route workings do run in mixed sets. 1 Link to comment

Yavaris Forge
The short answer is: No, there are no other train series that run together with E235 1000 sets.I found one video where an E217 is pulling a four car E235, but that looks like a) a rare test or b) a breakdown recovery. Since the E235-1000 sets only run on the Yokosuka line in regular operation, they only need to couple to trains in their own series. The E217 would be an option, but I don't think JR East planned with interoperability in mind, because the E235 is replacing the E217 rather than joining the fleet. I assume the trains have different electrical/data bus couplers, so coupling in general works (i.e for breakdown towing) but normal operation would not. EDIT: Upon closer inspection I believe this video isn't real. Notice the color changes on the background when the couplers of the two sets pass through.
