Japan's bullet trains to nix smoking rooms by spring amid health trend

 

This is welcome news! There’s nothing worse that sitting beside or near someone that smokes.  One persons smoke impregnated clothing just ruins the whole trip.  Just happened to me yesterday on the train to Kumamoto.

Great news indeed. Even the dedicated rooms are not that great at containing the smoke, and the smokers always leave them reeking of tobacco when they come and sit next to you again.

 

It seems like most cafes and restaurants have ditched them as well. Some weren't even properly enclosed, about as effective as the no peeing section of the swimming pool.
