Burtos
Is it possible to repaint or spray a new colour over the plastic used, mainly on the taller commercial buildings. Just trying to get a more varied version of each building and have many looking the same. Edited October 14, 2023 by Burtos Link to comment
Kamome
Certainly the medium sized and larger buildings are able to be taken apart and glazing removed reasonable easily. The taller buildings I have are kind of modular by floor so you could make different height if you had a few. The Kato buildings I have are generally painted rather than bare plastic and they do benefit from a black/brown wash to bring out some of the moulded detail ti give a more lived-in appearance. 2 Link to comment
cteno4
Both Tomix and Kato buildings disassemble pretty easily. I’ve repainted a few of the medium sized buildings like this to vary colors. You and also add fingernail pin tapes to some of the buildings to create some new architectural details to help give more visual difference. Search “nail tape” on ebay its cheap and silver, gold, bronze, black, and white work well. cheers jeff 1 Link to comment
Madsing
Just for example, this are the pieces of Kato 23-435B, which I disassembled this weekend. No glue. 2 Link to comment
cteno4
It is amazing how well the Kato and Tomix prebuilt buildings are designed to just snap fit together so well. jeff Link to comment
