Day 5 - September 16th, 2023 – Tomix World

Bonus #2 (Part 1)

Looking to Google Maps, I'm 1 hour away from Tomix World.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/Dn86GoU3TZLfzN1f7

As it's opening at 15:00 I'm not rushing.

Arrived at Kanda Station on the Yamanote Line, I'm shooting quickly a Shinkansen.

IMG20230916155921.thumb.jpg.ee802c54645b67dee532ef337b90683f.jpg

When Google Maps announces it's a couple aminutes away from the station, it's true.

IMG20230916154902.thumb.jpg.150a366909135a7757fa98a07ef13b51.jpg

It's simply the other side of the street (I've shot that in the middle of the pedestrians cross)

Then you've to take an elevator up to the 7F

IMG20230916144919.thumb.jpg.1000a0dc31a9b678eb3806f5f2777475.jpg

I'm arrived 10' ahead. I'll wait here for the temple's door to be opened

One thing you must know: Tomix world is not selling anything contrary to Kato. Here, everything is displayed but if you want to purchase anything it's not there.

It's a small room crowded with trains.

On the left-hand side, all the posters

On the right-hand side a counter where 2 employees inform visitors and work on models before they are displayed close to a big display cabinet

IMG20230916150112.thumb.jpg.4ab95e23d4a99ce048750b54778f52f4.jpg

Meanwhile, this is the sole place where models are in display cabinet. All the other models are presented without particular protection as people are respectful

Il love all those small air conditioner systems you can add to you N buildings

When I went to Kato Hobby Center I took the train. It's only 13 minutes from Shinjuku to Ochiai-Minami-Nagasaki Station. I was a bit unsure whether I was taking the right station exit, but then I spotted Kato advertisments while climing some stairs and I knew I was on the right track.

I also remembering going back to the station after my visit, trying to picture in my head how they managed to get that pilthed train to the Hobby Center on that very narrow street.

It's not particularly narrow in Tokyo terms (and has the advantage it's easy to access straight off the main road with no tight corners), a low-loader and a bunch of dudes with whistles and illuminated batons guiding it in no doubt did the trick.

Yeah, I know. As a Swede I use the concept of "narrow street" a bit differently from you over in Tokyo. 😄
