CaptOblivious
[i don't know where this fits. I put it here. So be it.] Greenmax paints are not readily available outside of Japan. I wish they were. I so wish they were. I bet you do too. But, here is something that may at least mitigate the problem of matching JNR and JR colors. http://colors.silicon-dragons.com/ It is a tool for taking an RGB value, and telling you what paints available in North America at least come closest to matching it. And you can get RGB approximations of your favorite JR/JNR colors right here on our very own Wiki: http://wiki.jnsforum.com/wiki/Color_Palettes_of_Japanese_Railroads The site tells me, for example, that if I want to match Grape #2, a color often used on older model electric locos, I might do well with Milwaukee Brown, no. 16-045 from the Badger MODELflex line. (Interesting coincidence, isn't it? That Milwaukee Road would paint its electric locos the same color as JNR did? Hrm...) Or for the Yamanote Line color, I might pick (oh god no) Leaf Green, no. 20528 in the Plaid Apple Barrel. Assuming I don't want to clog my airbrush, and don't care about my model, anyway ;) Link to comment
