martin67
Hi, we will have our annual Model Railway show in 86922 Eresing on Nov. 11th & 12th this year. So, if you are living in the area or maybe staying in and around Munich, Germany in Autumn, have a look! Last year it was like this, have a look, if you want. If it sounds strange to you and you understand nothing at all, well, this is German language..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr8yf5yNpo0 Btw., I'm the one with the white hoodie with FS-branding (FS = Ferrovie dello Stato Italia / Italian State Railways). martin67
Hi everybody, the "Kaltenberger Modellbahntage" (Kaltenberg Model Railway Days) in Eresing, Bavaria are over now. Here come a few pictures. This year we had quite a few layouts, which have never been shown in Eresing before. On one hand this was quite nice, as this keeps the show interresting for frequent visitors, on the other there were mostly modular layouts, which offer only limited entertainment for parents with smaller children due to their height and slow running infrequent trains. A newby was the model railway club Poing (east of Munich). Not the first time on this show, "Wuppertal Monorail", a really nice small layout. Children were invited to count birds, and then received some candy for their effort. Now comes the modular layout of the railway modellers at MVG (public transport in Munich / Tram, Underground and Bus) Here's another nice one. The background fits almost perfectly to the landscape (at least on two-dimensional pictures). The first picture shows a rolling porta-potty, my friend Christoph from Switzerland built it (scratchbuilt 3D print) from a suggestion in Model Railroader Magazine. Bavarian Zugspitzbahn cog-railway in a showcase. Zugspitze is the name of the highest mountain in Germany. A small shunting layout with Märklin track. The next layout was a first-timer in Eresing, too. There is a themed static display on every exhibition in Eresing showing trains. This year we had Inter City trains in Germany and their predecessors. H0 Trucks built after late 1960's prototypes of a regional transport company. Another modular layout on the second floor gallery. Also on the gallery in memory of late Alfons Weilbach, a very talented modeller, who passed away earlier this year. Now finally, it's us! We are a goup of very good friends and railway modellers from Dresden, Düsseldorf, the Eifel Area (the very west of Germany, unfortunately missed this show this time), Lucerne (CH) and me from Hallbergmoos near Munich Airport. We tried to move away from the "do not touch" modelling. Norbert from Düsseldorf brought a shunting game to join and participate for the younger audience. You had to numerically sort five wagons from 1 to 5, then go once around the circle. We took the time of the whole procedure, the kiddies received a certificate and candy. I only have one photo without children on it. And here it's me. Didn't know if this will be accepted by the German audience, so I just tried to find out. It's a traditional US O-gauge X-Mas layout, with tubular track and Williams, K-Line and Lionel trains. And ceramic buildings from Lemax. I put quite a few movie models (houses, cars, trains) on the layout, waiting for the people to realize. Nobobody initially noticed the AMRoad Silver Streak. This type (in every aspect) of layout is virtually unknown in Germany. Most people, especially children and their mothers, loved it right away. Lots of running action, automatic chocolate unloading, big trains and lots of lights. Allright, that's it for now, looking forward to Kaltenberg 2024! brill27mcb
The solution to "infrequent slow-running trains" is trams! Rich K. Link to comment
bill937ca
Then you have frequent slow trams! Except in Prague, Basel, Zurich and maybe Vienna. Then you have frequent trams that go like hell tearing down the street at 40 Km an hour! 1 Link to comment
