Welshbloke
I'm in the midst of gathering parts to complete my Aclass 205 Series in HO (which is a very lovely kit - always a good sign when it fits together tightly even before you add glue). One thing I can't find though: What pantograph should it have? I'm aiming to build it as one of the 205-0s from the Yamanote line, but even the Japanese Wiki article doesn't mention the pans. Surprising given the detail it goes into about the technical side of the units! 1 Link to comment
200系
I believe all MoHa 205 type cars were originally fitted with the PS21 type pantograph as built, regardless of sub-type. The PS21 type was originally developed as a modified version of the PS16 type, which was more or less the standard diamond pantograph used on National Railway new-performance type trains, and was originally designed for use on the aluminium bodied subway subway corresponding commuter cars of the 301 series. Prior to being used on the 205 series, it would also be introduced on the 201 series and 203 series and would later be used on the 211 series as well. In terms of modelling, a quick google search showed that both Endō and Models IMON have produced the PS21 type in 1/80, though both price and availability may be a bit of an issue for both. Endō (2211/2212): https://www.imon.co.jp/webshop/product/30259 https://www.imon.co.jp/webshop/product/30277 https://hs-tamtam.co.jp/product/detail/257494/ https://hs-tamtam.co.jp/product/detail/257495/ Models IMON (PA1027/1028): https://www.imon.co.jp/webshop/product/138944 https://www.imon.co.jp/webshop/product/138945 Hobby Search has both the silver (2211) and grey (2212) versions of the Endō PS21 available for backorder as well. Cheers! Edited May 28, 2023 by 200系 1 Link to comment
Welshbloke
Yep, I'm realising that a lot of the parts I need aren't currently available (have requested an email from Hobbysearch when they have the right Tenshodo motors back in stock, for example). i know what I need to look for now, anyway! Kamome
From what I found, some of the 201s on the Chuo line had PS35C single arm pantos fitted later but can’t find any images of Yamanote ones with these. From the info, only 4 chuo sets were updated. Link to comment

From the info, only 4 chuo sets were updated. All but one of the Toyota centre 10-car formations would receive the PS35C, with 33 formations being modified as such (formations T2~T33, formation T1 would retain the PS21 on MoHa 201-19, while MoHa 201-20/21 would be fitted with the PS35C) while the 6+4 formations, and later the split 4-car and 6-car formations, would retain their PS21's (with exception of 4-car formation W1 which did receive the PS35C). The Yamanote line never received 201 series cars, so I'm not entirely surprised you couldn't find any images😉. As for the 205 series, only the 205 series 500 sub-type cars and the remodelled 600, 1000, 1100, 1200, 3000 and 3100 sub-type cars would receive single arm pantographs in the shape of the PS33 type. To my knowledge no 0 sub-type cars were ever modified as such, and even the renewed 5000 sub-type cars used on the Musashino line, which would consist mostly of former Yamanote line 0 sub-type cars anyway, would retain their PS21's.
