2023 and there is a KiHa 54, a new H100 DMU and a steam locomotive in service at a station in Hokkaido.

That starts 2:39 though the rest of the video is interesting as well.  I think it is pretty great that you can be in Tokyo in the morning and at the far north in the afternoon.

Ciao,

Tony

One service whose future seems to be secure for the foreseeable future, as new ore cars have been purchased for it.

Cheers Nicholas

Not as common as it once was, a freight train passes through Ikebukuro Station April 22, 2023.

Do you know how the train body is transported? At the Tokyo General Rolling Stock Center, we use a vehicle called "Nontra" for vehicle maintenance. Take a look behind the scenes of the Tokyo General Rolling Stock Center that you can't usually see!

Totally freakn’ cool! Tomytec please! I guess would not be a horrible scratch build as mostly flat side and front. Would be a cool lasercut or etched model.

just love maintenance stuff like this.

nicely done video.

thanks

Seemed to be some sort of test.

Chuo line rapids are adding twin-decked green cars from end of 2024 taking the train length up to 12 cars. Are they extending platform lengths to accommodate these longer services?

Probably a delivery run.

Yup, they've been at it for the past few years.

Thanks, makes sense with J-TREC at Kanazawa-Hakkei, and I eventually worked out on the satellite view there is a link between Keikyu at Jimmuji and JR at Zushi.

Gotta love the satellite view 😁  I've got a few Google Map bookmarks centered on various places.  Never know what you're going to see in a random YT video, then have to research!
