After waiting over 12 months I finally got my new EV and was able to pick up my custom number plates. What do you guys think? Did I do good?? 😊

where is this?  Where do they allow such extensive customization of your plate?

It's pretty cool

Yes amazing customization! Here all you get is now a scrutinized look at your custom plate number (so dirty or offensive stuff weeded out). I used CTENO4 my dark blue with deep flake ‘64 vw but it was questioned as no one could figure out what it meant so it must be dirty! Just shortened Ctenophore (comb jellies) that my sparkling little iridescent bug looked like! Finally got it after a couple of letters back and forth to dmv. But no fun pictures or explanation like these plates!

This is Western Australia. I had to get a "Business" plate to allow the customisation so it was around AU$700 for the plate. I was surprised it got through myself but since there is no prominent copyright logos or anything I think that is why they let it go through.

The sequence of standard plates here goes '1AAA-000' onwards. they didn't want to risk anything obscene when they got to '1FAA-000' so all F plates were made to be "custom" plates so they could control what was issued.

They also scrutinise all other custom plates here. That includes anything that might encourage hooning or speeding beside swearing and violence.

I thought it might be Western Australia.   Pretty cool that they allow that much customization.  I've never seen that extent.  Mostly just the number itself is what I've seen (US / Europe).  Congrats!

I assume the AUD 700 charge was a one time charge and that the normal or perhaps an enhanced registration fee is due each year or however often they renew registrations but not another AUD 700?

Yeah the $700 was to buy the plates. It's a one off. Then it's just regular registration every 3, 6 or 12 months.

I'm not generally a fan of customised/personalised number plates, but these are great. If I lived in WA I'd get some, $700 or not. But here in NSW the custom options are uniformly crap, so I've never bothered.

Cheers,

Mark.
