So, the new Kyushu n700 by tomix has been released, however, I'm curious about the opinion of others about the colour.

To me the lower band looks very reddisch compared to real one which leans more to orange.

mine will be delivered in the next weeks, but based on the photos is not so bad, considering the different surface coating (opaque for plastic model, shiny for real train)

for a best comparison the only way is to go near the real train with the model in your hands, how the photo has been picked can change the color rendition (sun, shadow etc...)

I never thought it looked orange in real life when we rode it.  Definitely red from my experience

Thank you all, I happily stand corrected.

In my mind, from pictures like These I had the impression that the red sideskirts was a tad lighter, that was the motivation behind me asking here about whether others had the same impression. Will be ordering one soon too.

Colors in photos are highly variable due to lighting, surrounding colors, color correction, white balance, etc as well as lighting temp used indoors. You can see that in that wiki page as the 787 is much darker in that shot that it really is. Even your monitor or device calibration and type will affect how you see colors. Last thing is different people perceive and describe colors differently a lot! I’ve know a ton of designers in my life but only a handful were super consistent colorists.
