"Father and Daughter" is a 12-year story about the relationship between a parent and child, set in a train on the Sotetsu Line, that changes from elementary school to high school graduation, such as childhood, adolescence, and rebellion. At the beginning of the film, the father responds, "It goes by so quickly," to his young daughter who complains that it's too far to go to school by train.

 

In the ending scene where the father called out to his daughter, who eventually went on to a university in Tokyo, "Tokyo is far away", and the daughter returned her father's line exactly as it used to be.
