I have all those Tomytec houses, and more... And I'm certain I didn't pay 2250 for those in total ;)

(also, the road markings look pretty terrible...)

Spiff - that is some way to present your track and switches for that price.....even if the shipping is free I have to wonder how they are going to ship it?!

Hello,

Do you remember this topic started by new member Mr Jasmine? http://www.jnsforum.com/community/topic/7663-tomix-n-scale-jnr-shinkansen-type-215-221-221-226-226-237-train/?do=findComment&comment=84707

Well, here is the story on Ebay:

Chapter 1: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330960072394?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Chapter 2: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231021060785?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Chapter 3: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330978824168?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Is the final chapter?  Who knows? However, I reconsider my valuation in original thread.  Given the higher quality of current models produced by Tomix, Micro Ace and Kato, I think the product will sell for about $70 - $75.

Yeah, I think it will need to be a combo of a good price and some one who is a collector and just wants an older model for collection sake. I know that is the reason I picked up the old aurora. Will be harder in us ebay as a much smaller population of Japanese train collectors there.

wow there are some ebay scalpers out there when it comes to japanese trains.  but that one has gotta be the worse.

i dont mind paying an extra 20% to a ebay seller for a product that has been long out of stock.  but that product is in stock.  maybe he put an extra zero on the end my mistake.

That's almost SGD$1496.83!

I can buy a return air ticket + 1 night accomodation + train ride to Akihabara and grab a new model there, with some change to spare...

Considering that he sells kato unitrack with a x5 price tag and shipping delay of 1 month, he just puts up anything that can be purchased off ebay with a high enough price tag and long enough shipping delay that he can go and buy them after someone makes a purchase at his shop. This way he doesn't have to keep anything in stock and if he can only get something with a +100% extra and shipping from the end of the world, he will still have enough left to make it profitable. And if he can't get the item within a month, then he can still refund the price without saying anything. Most comments indicate this strategy is used. (and also the attempts by some people who didn't get a refund to track them down, the company is US based though, with some operations apparently subcontracted to China)

I'm with Jeff on this one. It's not that uncomon. A couple years ago I recall seeing a current production 500-series selling for $1200 as labled as ulta-rare, not available outside of Japan.
