Why do the pervert figures cost so much?

So I browse Hobby Search a lot (they have the best picture selection if you just want to window-shop for trains) and as y'all know they also sell those anime dolls where you can take off their clothes and such.

My question is: why are they so expensive? They don't have many moving parts. There may be minimal accessories. When I was a kid my little brother's GI Joes came with more accessories. So how come a lot of these stationary dolls cost more than something like a Modemo tram or a Kato diesel car? Especially when the latter comes with a gazillion little teeny parts that someone has to assemble in some factory somewhere.

Looks actually like a lot of accessory. Clothes are all in a different positions, and thus require different molds and such. To me the clothes look like they don't are actually made of a flexible fabric, but from solid plastic. Next to that models like that (in that price range) are mostly hand painted. However the price of this model doesn't shock me that much. I know people that spend lots more on stuff like that. Then again, they don't spend stuff on real girls as well, so they can afford such things :cheesy

I never cared for them but if you are interested, go to a second hand store in Japan and get it for much less.

Like Toni said, the price comes with hand crafted/painted cost and a cost that will discourage children from getting them.

I wonder if there are any male equivalent to balance this body as an object thing in Japan?  :bootyshake:

Maybe the Japanese women rights groups should look into it! (No pun intended, honest).

Figures have never been my niche in Japanese otaku culture, but from what my ex-room mate and a few of my frineds have told me overthe years,

The release on many figures is very limited to start. A second reason is that a lot of the figures are to a particular show, and the popularity of the how plays in to how much a maker can charge per a certain model when released in limited numbers.

for instant, a Hurahi Suzamiya bunny rock star figure from Season 1 or Yui from K-On! both, hot properties at the moment will command a good bit, but a figure from To-Heart (original Series) which has been off the air for a while and the manga is done, will double the price. Of people, people will pay you to take the model of Shinji Akari from Eva.

Scale also plays a big deal. Some scales are more popular than others, PVC vs resin also play in to this. A resin kit will always run a lot more than a PVC. Some are hand painted, but most of the time, the ones that are are sold as kit and the owner must paint. Typically these are the resin kits that have to be painted.

Personally, they are too expensive and are too space gobblers for my fandom.

Hi,

trust me, the dolls on sale on 1999 aren't not so expensive, you can find resin dolls until 100 to 200K JPY

see this site http://nagae-art-pro.com/ he make HO train too (in the past he make a kitbashed version of last run R61 based on Kato 0 series (RM Models 162 2009-2)

For some buyers the dolls produced from this artist (all handmade and limited numbered series) are an artwork

And that's not the only...

ciao
