is a place like I saw on TV where when you don't pay the rent the content of the storage box going to auction? (Discovery Channel - I'm not sure about the original title, maybe "storage wars" or something similar.....in Italy is "affari al buio" - business in darkness or blind business)

 

I hope not, or in this case, in your place, I think the wharehouse is good for .... the wife 😂

 

p.s. I see you have the same problems to correctly store the Kato USA trains boxes, me too whit the old TGV and AVE trains, I think the standard japanese book case need to be adopted by law from everybody (13 each box, simply perfect! and easy to handle )

We are moving to a smaller residence temporarily, if I have to I will sell some of my RC cars to pay the storage fee so my locker doesn't end up in an auction like Storage Wars, haha.  The 18x14x10 box is perfect for 13 standard book case and was also good for 7 North American Name trains and yup this size is easy to handle and not too heavy.  I bought 10 boxes thinking it would be enough, might need 10 more.

@cteno4 I'm going to use this thread to catalogue what's going in storage.  It's one thing to see your collection on a spreadsheet but to see it physically - it's a little scary, I can't believe I've accumulated this many trains all thanks to JNS and many moments of weakness as I peruse through all the online outlets. 😁

It's a common problem if you have two sets and leave them alone in a darkened storage location.

I agree, but for this situation it’s intentional - the 253 Narita Express was one of my very first Kato sets that I bought from my LHS back in the mid 90’s and was my introduction to Japanese trains aside from Bullet trains.  Actually had more 253’s at one point.

I do not see this as a problem.  In fact, if someone would be so kind as to leave two MA E193 sets in a darkened location, I would be happy to give the resultant set a happy home and will eagerly adopt it.

That's the plan, a dedicated hobby room. 😁  The Cruise Trains are some pretty amazing looking trains and lucky to have them.

I wasn’t just going to store my beloved trains in some cold and damp storage unit - I wanted to make sure they are in a climate controlled facility and are comfortable. I’m thinking I might be able to do my door table setup here, I just need to figure out a power supply.  Or at least set up a workbench, haha. 😁

I don't speak about the WIN350 "banana" kit but one Dr. T2 still missing

collecting Shinkansen is not so hard but surely expensive, sometime you have in your collection more trains than the real fleet, that's not so strange for 500 or 800 series, it's begun to be dangerous only if you have just a little less 200 cars  than JREast 😜
