bill937ca
JR East is celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the opening of the Shimbashi to Yokohama railway. Translated text from the JR East website: On October 14, 1872 (Meiji 5), opening ceremonies were held at both the Shimbashi and Yokohama (now Sakuragicho) station, and passenger trains began operating on October 15, the following day. With this as a boundary, the concept of traffic conditions and how to use time in Japan has changed completely. The sight of a steam locomotive running while blowing smoke was an astonishing event for the people of the time, and was truly a symbol of civilization and enlightenment. In 2022, we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the railway. https://www.jreast.co.jp/150th/ Being Japan events include "Let's find 150 Pokemon hidden in the station" and “Connected Fukushima Stamp Rally” https://www.jreast.co.jp/150th/campaign/00103/ There are at least two anniversary videos. 4 Link to comment
