That was an expensive set for what was just walkways and taxis. I presume that the pre-orders numbers were low.

 

Yeah hopefully they just release the taxis.

Nice new ones! Prices keep rising… 1650¥ per car.

 

Bummer the door is not just removable so you could pop it in for closed or out for open, looks to be set from the description.

Yes. Hopefully it will be easier to put back than cut around the door to open it as I did with some older taxis 😀

Having a door open allows for creating a nice scene, but having just one car with the door open out of the four would have been enough I think.

Anyway, I just pre-ordered two sets. They might run out of stock quickly.

Yes far cry from the early days of the Tomytec car collections at more like 130 yen per car list. These have vastly outstripped inflation. Those were the days and I did not expect them to last for variety and price but did not expect it to be over 10x rise. Should have stock piled a few more cases of those collections.

That price! I wonder if there is some sort of licensing payment to Toyota involved. I did order a few sets, but now I will want to add the markings that are common in Tokyo. Unfortunately, they are mostly white markings like this guy.

 

 

Some of the older Car Collection sets are still available at 1/2 that price.

Exactly. I am thinking about that too. The only way will be to use white decal and print black around the characters, right? By chance the block of characters is inside a rectangle, so we should be able to make the edges of the decal more or less invisible.

As a newbie to the Japanese N world I am rather shocked by the cost of vehicles so was happy to get some used ones during my trip in November (and the cheap Kato Nissan set), although no taxis.  Maybe next time.
