McGovern
I am a Kato unitrack user. But I want to buy Tomix Rail Yard 91036 and Rolling stock yard 91016. I really think it looks great. Question: I am not familiar with Tomix fine track. I can see the turnout in the sets are manual. Is it possible to make them electric? Thanks. Thomas Link to comment
bill937ca
Hobby Search lists this switch motor as an optional part for the 91036. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10032058 1 Link to comment
Rod.H
You will also need at least two of the track pieces Kato USA sells as the Atlas snap- track adaptor (20-045) if your going to use them with your existing Unitrack. Also Tomix switch motors use different wiring connectors to Kato, so consider picking up some Tomix point control boxes https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10009862 for controlling 1 point or https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10009863 for 2 at once and a separate power box for them https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10372931 Link to comment

McGovern, unless you are handy with slipping metal track connectors on in which case remove the plastic TOMIX track clip and the KATO track joiners and just slide on the ordinary metal track joiners. Just make sure that you have some thin packaging material, styrene, cork, timber, whatever, to bring the TOMIX track up by the 1 mm or whatever height difference it needs. The adapter is OK if you feel the need to use it, it is obviously designed to take the TOMIX track, which fits perfectly in width and height, but to me it is superfluous. (I have 6 or so bought years back when I believed that it was essential for joining TOMIX to KATO. I have since learned that it isn't so. So long as you get the height right and remove the proprietary connectors you should be fine. Link to comment
