My horse eats up all my money and time :D

Hello Guys 🙂

 

Another hobby of mine is horses. I own a Welsh stallion for carriage driving and two Shetland ponies. And since the end of last year, the hobby has been taking up more time than I thought because I got a new carriage 😄

 

But my Welsh isn't only for driving, it's also a balance to all the work, stress and depression for me. And so he take all my time 🤷‍♂️ . I've had him for almost 6 years now and he's also not a normal stallion.

 

Now you know why I often have a few weeks less model railroading in mind 😉 And driving a carriage is another nice hobby of mine.

that's right, he's really special 😌  he also senses immediately when you are not as usual and then builds you up

For me he is a therapy horse (chubby-unicorn) 😄 But he has also taught me a lot over the last few years

 

 

 

But the best thing is: I don't care about the fuel prices in Germany 😂 I have a horse and a carriage.

 

 

by the way, the two also belong to me and sometimes keep me busy

 

 

 

 

Does anyone here actually have horses?

I have a parrot.. He's not very helpful, nor does he care much about how I feel, or me in general, except when I have something that he wants 🙂

 

Horses are one of the few animals I'm somewhat scare off, mainly because when I was a kid, I walked up to a horse and somehow it wasn't expecting it. So it got startled, stood up on it's rear legs and being all loud and impressive and kicking it's front legs.. It never actually hit me, but still scary. It was also a really big stallion o.O

 

Haven't had the opportunity to be around horses much after that, I'd probably be okay with them, if a little hesitant at first.

Got a wife. Believe me …horse and parrots are cheap compared to marriage.

That's a good one Patrick!! I always have a question... May i ask why there are covers on the sides of horses, especially when they are pulling carriages? 

 

That is a very interesting hobby you have, and very envirnomental friendly too! Love those cute little ponies! Are horse shoes quite a hard maintenance work? Saw once on a documentary Horse shoes needs to be trimmed often much like our toe nails else it will actually hurt their legs...

Only a dog here (and a wife!) that has similar expressions and attitudes of your pony! New fence to keep him from barking at everything in the park right next to us was not cheap though! But he’s half pure cattle dog and other half is German Shepard, Rottweiler, Keeshond, and wild dog, so he much contain, control and guard any moving thing, people, dogs, squirrels, deer, rabbits… but a super loyal buddie and will poke you with his nose when he needs a head scratch.

Hello Martijn,
that's ok, at the beginning I had a lot of respect (and also fear) for my own horse, also a stallion but rather the size of a pony. It went so far that I didn't even dare to clean the hooves for the first few weeks. He knew that and took advantage of that (horses sense emotions. The horses then take advantage of that and annoy them or gain respect that way).

But after half a year he taught me to be self-confident and that's how I earned my horse's respect. Since then we've been inseparable (he follows me everywhere and licks my face the whole time - he's begging for treats). 😂

 

It was no different for my boss, he was very afraid of horses, now there are therapy sessions for him when he is there, because then he can switch off and forget the everyday life (and then he really laughs and is happy).

Did you mean the Blenders on his Head?

When driving a carriage, these are there so that the horse can concentrate on the work and not be frightened by cars or the like approaching from behind, it is focused. 🙂

That always depends on whether the horse has horseshoes or not. A farrier comes to us with horseshoes about every 8 weeks and then does them. In horses without horseshoes, this comes every 10 weeks (possibly later) and cuts the horn (mass) back from the hoof. It also depends on the horse's level of work.

 

 

 

Jeff, i Know exactly what you Mean .... I have a Dog too and he is a Labrador-Mix, he just wants to play and  has endless energy .... 😄 he follows me everywhere and protects me, my house and the 2 little Shetty who are here at the house.
