Unreliable reads of decoder manufacturer ID numbers?

I'm starting to learn more about the particular decoders I have so that I can optimize their function. I have to admit that I haven't always paid too close attention to this. Once I had them installed and working, I've only really been interested in recording their addresses.

But now I'm going back to learn more about them. I'm using the programming track to read CV8 and using manufacturer ID sheets to find out who the manufacturer is. However, I'm fairly sure that some of the IDs aren't correct.

For example, my EH200 reads 99 for CV8. This corresponds to Lenz. However, I'm quite certain that I put a D&H decoder into it. And I'm also fairly certain that I've never purchased a Lenz decoder. Is there some link between these two manufacturers that I don't know about. The DCCwiki says that Dohler & Haas used to be linked with Trix, but no mention of any link with Lenz. Dohler & Haas should be 97.

Anyone know why this might be?

Also, this decoder shows 88 for CV7 This doesn't correspond to any D&H decoder. It is compatible however, with some Lenz decoders.

D&H and Lenz have no link as far as I know. D&H did make the original Selectrix system. So there shouldn't be a reason for CV8 to specify it's a Lenz decoder, unless it actually is a Lenz decoder 🙂
