Baiodo Laser Cut Structures

A relatively new supplier of laser cut cardstock kits, Baiodo is doing a lot of nice structures for HO.

This one in particular caught my eye. I wish they would make it in N scale.  https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10837719

They seem to do limited runs, so if you want any of their items, pre-ordering seems to be prudent.

I purchased some of their N Scale kits but was somewhat intimidated by them and passed them on to Jeff.  They do seem to be nice structures with more detail than the Sankei kits I have worked on.

Tony graciously send me the two Baiodo kits recently. They are on the top of my build list here to do this month. On first inspection they are nice kits. One is only a single color kit that will need painting. The other is precolored cardstock (pigment thru the whole board, not just on the surface) not requiring painting. Their card stock is a high density regular cardstock, not the high resin very stuff laserboard like sankei uses. It s a tad thinner than the usual sankei board so can do a bit more detail but will need more layers to build up good strength, and it looks like they do this. The surface texture of their chipboard is a bit smooth unfortunately, would be nice if had just a tad more texture, but I’ll see what it looks like built. The sankei stuff is quite unique and not been able to find anything quite like it. No laser cut scorching on the colored pieces, but a tad on the cut edge of the tan uncolored model, but it requires painting anyway.

kits are pretty detailed and as tony mentioned a bit more complex than sankei kits from the quick look, but not much more and it may just be it being a slightly different build/design scheme. Instructions look much more detailed than the pretty basic sankei instructions.

looking forward to getting into them soon here. Going to do the cute little precolored house first to see how it goes up w.o any painting. Also get an idea of build so I can figure out painting strategy for the unpainted one. Also will need to work on paint to use that will not curl the thin cardstock walls as they are bigger on the uncolored one. May just back with some 020 or 040 styrene to avoid paint warping them.

cheers

Daaahhhhh. All I can do is drool! I would be in serious trouble if that was in driving distance… perhaps even train or plane distance.

my order from them came quickly and was great. Been meaning to photo the bootie for the what came in the mail thread.

cheers

Baiodo kits are also available from Sakatsu, but they spell it “baioudou”, so just search for that name on the search box of Sakatsu Global to get them.

thanks @Madsing, nice to see Sakatsu is stocking them well. It’s more up their alley.

I hope sakatsu can get some sort of organization to the site. Looks like it’s a blog system they just tweaked… would be nice to just have a list of the manufactures with predone sorts. The way it is now is very dangerous, ether you get frustrated not easily finding something and walk away if you take the time to go Thru all the pages and wind up with a very very full shopping cart!

and one page showing the complexity of the build.

Thanks @Kamome, I thought I remembered a walk Thru like that when these kits first hit the market last year. Luckily the one I have has the much smaller front screen work and not the intricate batting on the siding. Still going to need some painting planning.
