scott
I'd like to suggest a new board for the "Japan & Japan Rail" platform. It'd be useful, especially for those of us not living in Japan or who have never been there, to have a place for interesting questions or posts about Japan itself--not the railways, but the geography, culture, food, language, etc. (I'm especially interested in geography, but it's all good stuff.) I'm not quite sure what to call it--I'll try to post some name ideas--but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else thinks this is a good idea. Link to comment
grumbeast
I think its a great idea, My knowledge of Japan is cursory at best and having a "railmodellers guide to Japan" would be great to give some context to some off the other threads. Geography especially is a failing of mine, it would be nice to have a place to talk about some of this stuff Graham Link to comment
disturbman
In my mind this party allready exists in the form and shape of the "traveling to Japan" sub-forum. Link to comment

Maybe, but there are lots of questions that come up even for those of us who aren't going there. It might be cleaner to keep travel experiences separate from general facts. Link to comment

We created the Traveling to Japan for the reason as so asked by Scott. At the moment, unless the rest of the leadership team has changed their opinions in secret, essentially placed a moratorium on making more forums and sub-forums as to keep things from getting too hard to keep track of. But, I digress, the "Traveling to Japan" is the forum for Japanese prototypes, railfanning and otherwise general Japanese train discussion forum. Link to comment
disturbman
We can relabeled this particular sub-forum to a simple, "Japan" (travelling, culture, geography and so much more). And that could even be a great idea. Link to comment

scott
Well, but--the boards under "Japan..." are: Prototypes Photography Travel tips and memories Non-Japanese Prototypes and Travelling ...only two of which relate to Japan. It seems like Photography and Non-Japanese should be under "other." And there's no category there for posts about Japan on topics *other than* trains or travel. Link to comment
Guest ___
The photography is referring to the trains, not photography in general. The other is a catch-all for everything else. Link to comment
