A few days ago, Santa Fe no. 2926 ran under steam for the first time in 68 years.

I live about five hours from Albuquerque, so this is exciting.

Wow! Beast is right, but a beautiful one! More reasons to head out to Albuquerque next year. Good model train buddy moved back there a few years back and I worked there a lot a decade ago and love the area.

hoping it does not head right out to a national tour and will start doing something interesting on the southwest.

There are apparently negotiations for runs from Albuquerque to the Raton Pass. The line is not used a lot and apparently BNSF is warm to the idea.

Ooh that would be nice! Great additional reason for a trip out to Albuquerque. I really like the area.
