Searching that, Kato released an early version EF65-1000 in 2019. I hope some shops have in stock. I sort of overlooked one a few years ago as I already had a later version. I do like the larger PS17 pantographs on the earlier units. I assume they all got replaced with the PS22 eventually. Link to comment

My shop has an early Katsumi's EF65-1000 in stock. It's more cool than one with PS22. 1 Link to comment

Kamome
U-trains make some beautiful brass models of the 24 series coaches in brass OJ gauge. One of the features is an electrical panel lit up like this. I wish a manufacturer did this with HO models. http://u-trains.com/technology/jnr24series I often use their website to get ideas for detailing. Edited August 28, 2021 by Kamome 2 1 Link to comment

If anything, I felt it was grotesque not realistic because production was too good... Edited August 28, 2021 by Modellbahn JP 2 Link to comment

Kamome
Nice to see some more shots from Yahata with the 421系. I also have a real love of the 581/583. They looked like real workhorses and their 3 tiered beds were probably pretty difficult to get a good night's sleep on. There's a cab unit at Kyushu Railway Museum with a Gekko headmark. You can sit in the compartments but sadly not in the cab. It's one of the those iconic EMUs I'd like in HO although I already have one in N. I remember seeing pictures of the Lufthansa Airport Express in books and the Lima model in models shops as a child. Such a weird looking train perhaps inspired by Donald Duck. Not sure if that's an onigiri or an all seeing eye above the cab though. I am really enjoying your photos @Modellbahn JP. I know realise I was born in the wrong era for my main area of Japanese railway interest. 2 Link to comment
