Guest ___
Anyone know much about this line? There's not much info on the wiki. All, I know is that it ends at Tennoji Station, Osaka. Link to comment
bill937ca
Here's the Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hankai_Uemachi_Line Judging by the timetables on the Hankai tramway site this is the heaviest leg of the Hankai Tramway. Service from Tennoji runs to multiple terminals at Sumiyoshikoen or Hamadera-ekimae. The timetable for service from Tennoji Station. http://www.hankai.co.jp/time/pdf/5tenmae_090704.pdf The line ends outside Tennoji Station in a cramped single track terminal. Guest ___
Yeah, wiki didn't have much while looking at it earlier tonight. I looked at a few videos earlier as well on YT fromthe PC. I had hoped to find an English site or something that could tell me if the streetcars take ICOCA, and what the fares and route were. To be honest I hadn't realized that Osaka had a streetcar line, it's not on any of the three Osaka city maps, nor on the five transit maps I own (including the two different system maps for the iPod) I actually was researching Tennoji station when I saw the streetcar line listed on the wiki. I'm starting to think that 6 days is not enough to hit everything I want to hit in Osaka. I do like that video you posted Bill as I hadn't sen that one. It give me a decent idea of how that station was set up. I sorta had a feeling it was going to be in the middle of the street as the line was street running in many of the video. Link to comment
bill937ca
This is the Hankai Tramway web site. http://www.hankai.co.jp/index.html http://www.hankai.co.jp/waies/index.html This line runs the oldest streetcars in regular service in Japan, the Hankai 161 series. Those cars date to 1928 to 1931. http://world.nycsubway.org/perl/show?55443 http://world.nycsubway.org/perl/show?55444 Link to comment

Hankai does run in the street, but both lines also go into right of way, sometimes abruptly. This not far from Tennoji. Various locations along the right-of-way. Link to comment
Guest ___
That looks pretty easy to get to. I looked at the company webpage and it appears fares within Osaka city are ¥200 and ¥290 outside. That's pretty steep, but I might just walk the tracks to where it exits the street medium. Link to comment
