Guest ___
I hate spring loaded switches, they kill the back when you have to throw them. We have two at Walkersville, and we do everything possible not to switch on the north lead just so we can avoid them. Link to comment
disturbman
Don't know about those switches but I'd like to know how wide these trains are? Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Don't know about those switches but I'd like to know how wide these trains are? Hard to find the data, but it seems to be 2100mm. With longitudinal seating, a couple of tall Dutchmen might bump knees. http://www.uraken.net/rail/chiho/kintetsu/260.html Link to comment
disturbman
lol... yeah. Those trains seemed pretty narrow. They look a bit like toy trains. Link to comment

bill937ca
The dimensions are on the Japanese Wkipedia page for the Hokusei line which formerly was part of the Kintetsu system as the Utsube line still is. Both lines use the same rolling stock. Dimensions are L x W x H. 270 series 15600×2110×3670 140 series 11380×2130×3256 170 series 15600×2110×3190 Japanese Wkipedia pages: Utsube line http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%BF%91%E9%89%84%E5%86%85%E9%83%A8%E7%B7%9A Hokusei line http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%89%E5%B2%90%E9%89%84%E9%81%93%E5%8C%97%E5%8B%A2%E7%B7%9A Hinaga Station http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%97%A5%E6%B0%B8%E9%A7%85 Link to comment

Though in Hokusei's defense that turnout is a catch-point turnout, doesn't need to be pretty. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch_points Link to comment

That image must have been quite disconcerting to the natives. Link to comment
