Tomix Discontinued Models, 2010 edition

N-Gauge Information has helpfully pulled out the list of models Tomix will be discontinuing this coming year. Highlights include their long-troubled DE10 model, and some of their E1 and E2 shinkansen models.

Does anyone know why a manufacturer (Tomix or Kato) would discontinue a particular model? especially when the 2nd hand price shoots up and would justify continued production?

They could be preparing complete new models of the ones they're discontinuing, or they figure there's not much point in still manufacturing them when a different manufacturer also makes them.

The KATO DE10 crushed the TOMIX model entirely. I suspect the MA version is better too ^_^

I agree with Martijn. I think Tomix is on the pace to re-issue all his Shinkansen products with a whole new standard. The 700 (or N700 ?) was the first, the 300 is coming more or less for march and the E3 should be on the open market in january.
