Sakatsu Gallery (Reproducers of Kobaru stuff)

@Madsing found that Sakatsu Gallery has taken over the kobaru products and producing them again! Wooo hooo!

It seems that Sakatsu (https://sakatsu.jp/about/english/) has started manufacturing replacement products for Kobaru. They call them "こばる同等品 / Kobaru equivalent" here: https://shopsakatsu.com/shopbrand/ct254/ or look for "こばる同等品" in the search bar.

edit they now have a global shop and things are indexed quite well

I’ve got an email into them to find out the details of doing overseas shipping, not clear in their checkout process. I’ll post the results.

So now Sakatsu has their Sakatsu global website for export! Unfortunately the site does not have thing well categorized, so you need to do a bit of searching. Good news is they now have some of the old pro hobby (imon) figures and detail bits as well as the Kobaru, YSK, and sankei at full SRP (but sankei doesn’t leave a lot of margin in for discounting).

If memory serves, didn't drug pushers provide some free samples to get people hooked?  If so, can I send you the invoice for my Sakatsu purchases?

I just placed a small order to sample the products and service.  Some detail parts and some of the Baiodou kits.

You can try tony! I think I did that already with a few other bits to you in the past, cant blame your habit down stream on me as new and needing freebies now! Now it’s time the pusher gets all the income from now on, right?! Hmmm maybe I should contact Sakatsu…

gavin purchased from them a few months back thru their Japanese site and said they had excellent service. I tried to contact them in English to figure out how they wanted me to finish an order on the Japanese site a couple months back but got no response save being out on their Japanese newsletter (interesting stories mainly about them being focused on model building as a shop), but it looked like at the time the global site was already in the works to solve that issue.

cheers,

Well, so far, so good - I placed the order Tuesday morning and received a shipping notice overnight - looks like the items were shipped Wednesday morning Japan time.  I opted for EMS so hoping that the shipping goes smoothly.

Good timing! They managed to launch the global site a couple of days after my order from them via Zenmarket shipped. 🙂

I was planning to resist buying anything more from them before I'd get a chance to visit the store in person. I guess the odds of me failing to stick to that plan has fallen now.

Well I just did an order from the new site and all went well. Site unfortunately does not really classify things and few things did not turn up as expected in search so I just went thru the instock pages and looked at it all. Very dangerous way to shop! But found a bunch of detail parts I wanted. There were a couple of Tomytec buildings I was interested in but they pushed ems shipping (only thing available right now to us) way up to as much to ship as buy them. Was able to get a few sankei parts a 1/144 miniaturist friend here wanted (got her hooked on sankei details!). Also was able to get a straight and curved Kato mini dioramas to try out. nice to get back to having the old prohobby stuff back out again under IMON brand like the kobaru stuff as well. Prohobby had a ton of great etched metal stuff.

Funny, I just had the same experience this week. I just placed a relatively large order (about 20 products). Their search function works really well, but that's about the only reliable way to locate products.

The top catalog page (https://sakatsuglobal.com/collections/all) has hundreds of links called ct something, the products are somehow loosely grouped by page, but there is no other classification. I first resorted to click them one by one, then I found the collection page (https://sakatsuglobal.com/collections) that helped a lot.

I was happy to find (and purchase):

- Old Kobaru products (of course)

- Trees and particularly realistic bamboo trees (https://sakatsuglobal.com/collections/ct155)

- Different types of leaves (https://sakatsuglobal.com/collections/ct153)

- Mininatur products from Germany (https://www.mininatur.de/en/), which really look good. Search for "mininatur (n)" in search box.

- Different types of fences (https://sakatsuglobal.com/collections/ct171)

- Some Baiodo products such as these gutter covers https://sakatsuglobal.com/products/1601ac01615c?_pos=1&_sid=3dfb8db9f&_ss=r

The purchasing and payment processes are seamless. No problem.

Just placed a small order with them - some detail bits for future projects - fencing, vending machines, benches and such but also four books.  I just stumbled on them when playing around the site and was pleasantly surprised.  The prices seem very reasonable - I spotted a book I had previously purchased for much less than I spent for it.  I ordered Super Railway Scenes Vol 5 and that was US$13.  Also a couple of books on diorama making and N Gauge Plus - mainly to get visual ideas for my (hopefully forthcoming soon) projects.

Got up this morning to an e-mail saying my order had been shipped.  Not sure how long it will take - I opted for Fed Ex as that seemed the most reasonable option.  Anyway,  the order was on its way less than 18 hours after I ordered which seems pretty good to me.

Wow - ordered mid-day Sunday (East Coast US Time) and the package just arrived this afternoon.  Roughly 48 hours from order to delivery - - and I choose the FedEx shipping option which was less than DHL.

I am working from home - must resist looking at the books for a few more hours!

Ciao,

Tony

Always amazes me when it happens that fast! Packages from Sakatsu Gallery are always such treats of little bits for me.

I went to the Sakatsu shop yesterday.

For those who do not know, that shop focuses on diorama construction material, providing a lot of detailing parts useful for model trains. The shop is not large but is packed with parts and material not easy to find at other usual model train shops (see photos below). I was welcomed by the owner and we chatted bit. They have recently restocked all former Kobaru products so they are now easy to find again.

We can also buy online at https://sakatsuglobal.com
