Check out this blog.  This particular page is for the Takasaki loco depot.  Links at the bottom take you to other depots, mainly concentrated in the Kanto region, also southern Tohoku, Niigata, and Aichi.

Here in the UK a modern loco depot in 1/76 OO is very popular here are some nice examples :-

For those non-UK modellers TMD means Traction Maintenance Depot, many modellers i know have far more locomotives than rolling stock and this is a good way to exhibit them in a small space too
