Anyone have experience dealing with plaza japan customer service. They forgot to include items into my order and hopefully they just resend them. I have contacted support of course

Two times in the past years, I've ordered items that Plaza Japan could not ship because they were actually out of stock. They apologised and immediately refunded the exact amount (in JPY) on my credit card. However, both times I got refunded less than what I paid because of currency exchange and other fees. I prefer other shops like AmiAmi, where you are not asked to pay until the items are ready to be shipped.

Bummer yes exchange rates can nip you that way. Also shipping charges can change depending on the item not sent. I hope they refunded any extra shipping charges.

Yes. Actually, the first time, they proposed (and I accepted) to cancel the whole order as shipping only the remaining items would not have been cost effective. The staff has always been very kind, responsive and understanding.

Just get a revolut card. This way you will get a refund of the exact amount in jpy no fees

Yes, you are completely right. That’s a very good piece of advice. I actually now have a Wise card (same as Revolut, maybe more popular here in Asia) that I use for all JPY purchases. It’s day and night compared to traditional credit cards!

That and they got to reimburse me for extra shipping costs and taxes paid too. Easier if they just resend it honestly. I guess got to be bit more persistent on that front, get them to send the missing four tracks. Rather not pay local rates for the stuff.

I found it that In my case wise isn't worth it compared to revolut. Sure the rate is better but the fees are too high (I have the lowest subscription with revolut since I'm paid in euro but spend in jpy)

Cross my fingers as I just placed my 4th order with them last night.  The previous 3 have been flawless though one order took a bit longer as I suspect there were many that were only "one left" that really was they didn't have any.

I have learned to check availability of each product after placing the order.  If any shows Out Of Stock, then I know that I bought "the last one" though the difference between "the last one" and reality could be that it was Out Of Stock even before I purchased it.  Inventory mismatch to website.  So far they have been able to source it though it may take a little longer.

I'm in no rush on this order as I was trying to squeeze one more in before (if) they shut down DHL, etc.  I was initially going to use Japan Post standard registered air mail just to try it but you know how it goes, as you start dropping things into your shopping cart you realize that Japan Post is no longer economical.  🤣

This will also reduce the list that I'm taking to Japan in the Fall so less things to carry back on the airplane.  😁

BTW, I'm assuming these Revolut/Wise money card is useless outside of Japan?  Do they function like MC/Visa/Amex gift cards for Japanese merchants?

Revolut and Wise are international financial and banking apps. They allow you to juggle between various currencies with minimum fees.

I don't know for Revolut, but the Wise card is a (international) Visa card. Don't have to be physical either, you can request virtual cards. When buying things outside of Europe/US, I usually use my Wise card or make a direct bank transfer using the app.

@Kingmeow Yeah i agree leave room for other stuff (special train) you pickup in Japan. The options are getting slim. Shipping tracks costs more than even trains. Hopefully us market gets better because i am not as effected in canada though i have access to hong kong/china side as well.

Yes they are both similar. Except wise has a better rate but more fee

Revolut has a worth rate (still better than most bank/amazon/PayPal) and also fees but less and you can also get rid of them with a subscription.

With revolut you can also choose visa or Mastercard
