gmat
From SoraNews24 Don't know if it's been mentioned before. Japan’s Moonlight Nagara train service ends, leaving a hole in overnight rail travel https://soranews24.com/2021/01/26/japans-moonlight-nagara-train-service-ends-leaving-a-hole-in-overnight-rail-travel/ Grant 1 1 Link to comment
miyakoji
Yeah it’s too bad. I guess the only one left is the Sunrise Seto, at least regularly scheduled. JR 500 posted a video a few weeks ago by JPRail (https://youtube.com/c/JPRailcom) he has at least two videos on his channel about night trains. He narrates in English, they’re well done, and they’re usually about more obscure Japanese railway topics that would otherwise be difficult to find about in English. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Actually remarkable that this train lasted until this year. Rode it back when the 165 series was used (on the second section rinji formation departing from Shinagawa then, though I think it actually departed before the normal service). Anyway, as the article says, the overnight buses (and the covid related drop off in riders) killed it, just like with the blue trains. Link to comment
