Darren Jeffries
I just read this myself, I thought it was hilarious. I would say that the 20,000 estimate of enthusiasts in japan is probably conservative?!? Link to comment
to2leo
I think they are talking about franatics train spotters. I personally would not want the fourth floor with the train thundering 20-23 hrs a day. You do need a good nite sleep. However, if you are interested, you can try the Toyoko Inn room that I stayed in Osaka. 4,400 to 6,300 yen a night. http://www.toyoko-inn.com/e_hotel/00016/index.html Link to comment
bill937ca
It was pointed out on the the Yahoo forum that hard core Japanese train enthusiasts are estimated at 1 million in Japan. General media outlets often get these things grossly wrong. Link to comment
to2leo
Didn't I also hear that there are 9 million model train enthusiasts in Japan too? Link to comment
bill937ca
Didn't I also hear that there are 9 million model train enthusiasts in Japan too? That's what I have heard and I believe Kato is the source of that number. Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
Its "Just like the N-gauge Model, Train View Stay Plan" is named after Japan's standard size of model railway sets. The offer includes a gift of a paperweight made of a piece of track, as well as a copy of the latest railway timetable. Dude, these guys have the foamer market down. Link to comment
Guest ___
With exception of my stay in Ueno, every hotel I have stayed in was next to the mainline. Not by design, but because these are business hotels geared towards OW men so they are always cheap. Link to comment
scott
Dang, they're onto my plan for cheap rooms. Link to comment
