kuro68000
Today started crisp but not freezing, and by the evening it was actually quite pleasant. What I'm used to this time of year. Hirahara Station. I was wondering if Google Maps made a mistake when I arrived, it was so tiny. No gates or ticket machines. 4 Link to comment
kuro68000
I noticed this interesting road furniture. It's a reflective marker with a sort of windmill thing on it that has a brush to keep it clean. 1 Link to comment

kuro68000
The Jagi statue is amazing. If you don't know Hokuto no Ken, it's the most testosterone saturated nonsense imaginable. This guy's head is permanently trying to explode, so he has to wear a helmet to keep it together. 1 1 Link to comment
brill27mcb
Somebody needs to publish a large coffee-table full-color art book entitled "Manhole Covers of Japan." The variety and designs are truly amazing! Rich K. 2 Link to comment
cteno4
Rich, It’s been done in a nice small coffee table book called Drainspotting: Japanese Manhole Covers. Sadly out of print now and now very expensive (they were like $6 new on the us amazon back in 2013) on the used market. Really lovely little book and well curated. I gave them out to some of our club members way back that liked the odder things. Perhaps we should get kero this little Drainspotting journal! cheers, jeff 2 Link to comment
RS18U
Great thread, lots of lovely photos @kuro68000. I too take pictures of manhole covers but did not know about that book. Available on EBay for the bargain price of $345.90 USD 😮 1 Link to comment
cteno4
It’s on amazon for $99 or $1039! I got a few copies for $3 new on amazon a decade ago… it is a very cute little book, a treasure. jeff 1 Link to comment
kuro68000
This is a combined Laserdisc player and Sega Megadrive. I think the Megadrive part can be removed too, the idea being to swap in different consoles. I'm sure there was a PC Engine version as well. Not many games were made for it, but obviously ones that were had full Laserdisc video with Megadrive graphics overlaid. FMV games tend to be quite bad, with a few exceptions like Road Blasters. Tozuka-Angyo Station. I have the news on in the background, they are talking about the cabbage price crisis. 1 Link to comment
kuro68000
Niiza rang a bell somewhere in my brain... A favourite Hard Off? Don't trust Google Maps' advice? Or... My nemesis! That's not even the top, there is another flight of steps over the horizon! 2 1 Link to comment
Tony Galiani
Looks like you are feeling better? Hope so. And wish that the cabbage price crisis was the only thing to have to worry about! I spent yesterday on an Air Canada (mis)adventure but now am ensconced in New Brunswick, Canada and looking forward to a day of catching up on your videos and posts. And planning for my next Japan trip! Cheers, Tony 2 Link to comment
