kuro68000
This train had a step to get on. I'd be interested to know how that came about. Are they recycled from some other line, with a step retrofitted? I saw other trains that had no step inside them, but a clear step up to get on-board. 1 1 Link to comment
kuro68000
There were plaques by all these stones, but the kanji was beyond me and not enough contrast for Google Translate to read them. Link to comment
kuro68000
Another lovely computer, with a nice joystick. Was quite tempted by this, but holding out for a Roland MT-32 or later model as they are more useful for games. 1 Link to comment

kuro68000
I have now picked up a load of these 5 packs of Bluray 100GB discs for 500 yen. I thought they were mis-priced the first time, but I think they just have a blanket policy of 100 yen/disc and don't account for the fact that these hold 4x as much data as standard Bluray discs. Sony made some really nice computers in the 80s. 1 Link to comment
kuro68000
This end of the platform was poorly lit and doesn't seem to be used by most trains. Now, back to Tokyo... A manhole cover in Soka. 1 Link to comment

The NEC one was almost this much, and it's broken (likely needs a new belt). It was hard to resist getting this one anyone. That HP Logic Analyzer was designed (and possibly manufactured) in the building that I am sitting in at this moment in Colorado Springs. I was a production engineer for a time for HP Logic Analyzers almost 40 years ago (yikes!). This one slightly predates my era. Not sure about that particular unit, but some of the logic analyzers were also manufactured in Hachioji by Yokogawa Hewlett Packard. https://www.hpmuseum.net/divisions.php?did=39 My current employer is an off-shoot of HP, but we still occupy the same buildings in Colorado Springs and Hachioji. I haven't been to the Hachioji site in more than 10 years. Edited January 11 by maihama eki 4 Link to comment
Gunzel
We had one of those HP's at school when I was learning to be a computer technician. I'd love to buy it, but I imagine it would be built like a tank and be over the baggage allowance by itself. I wish HARD OFF's blanket price on MO media was Y100 a piece, I found one five pack for Y550, but everywhere else they seemed to be Y300 or even Y500 per disk. 1 Link to comment

These days it's all USB based stuff, but I think USB oscilloscopes are still a bit lacking compared to dedicated ones. Yoshikawa, Saitama. 1 Link to comment

Keysight (or Tektronix, or LeCroy, or Rhode & Schwartz or...) will definitely sell you a dedicated oscilloscope. I suspect more hobbyists use the USB type, but there are some cheaper dedicated boxes, especially cheaper on the used market. Colorado Springs is also the home of Keysight oscilloscopes. I've contributed to a number of them over the years. Edited January 12 by maihama eki 2 Link to comment

I think that's a KIHA 25, which are not very old. The plow looks retrofitted, kinda rough. I suspect the floor level would match most platforms, but that one is low for whatever reason. Is this the Kisei Line? On 1/11/2024 at 9:41 AM, mojo said: No idea who this dude in Gifu is. Wikipedia probably knows. Wikipedia indeed 🙂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oda_Nobunaga 1 Link to comment

It says you are not allowed to wait on the train while it turns around and goes back in the other direction. My guess is that some people were getting on the wrong direction and going a few stops to the terminal, and then remaining on board to go to their intended destination. Reason was probably to get a seat, as they are probably all filled up by passengers getting on at the terminal. The staff were probably not very happy either, as they do a sweep of the train before it turns around. 1 1 Link to comment
