cteno4
Tomytec is entering the construction equipment fray now this spring with their entries of both vehicles and scenes. Construction Vehicles first is the vehicles with a set of 4 types of vehicles in two color versions plus two secret types! you will only get 8 vehicles per pack so this one will be a bit of a crap shoot on what you get! - Komatsu Bulldozer D155AX-6 (Counterweight equipped), - Hitachi Deconstruction Unit ZX480LCK-3 High-lift front (Catalogue specification) - Komatsu PC300-8 (Power Shovel/Catalogue specification) - Kobelco Panther X250 (Crane / during work) - Komatsu Bulldozer D155AX-6 (changeable multi-flipper equipped) - Hitachi deconstruction unit ZX480 (LCK-3 High-lift front (Hitachi Constructions Machinery REC specifications)) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10102674 Construction Building Tomytec jumped on an idea i have wanted to do for years now, a construction equipment yard/rental place. I use to drive by one when i visited my grandfather all the time and it was such a cool lot full of all sorts of equipment and every time i went by it was all different so a very cool scene and one that could be changed easily all the time on a layout to give some variety/fun to the look! also something to do with all these odd pieces of equipment coming out from pro hobby, maruka, ftoys, tomytec! http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10102791 Construction Site Details These look to be some small scene detail parts for a construction office lot. if anyone can translate the japanese on the hw images it may describe what they are. from the photos on the hs thumbnail it looks to be Set A construction office? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104760 http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2009120111.aspx Set B Fencing? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104761 http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2009120112.aspx set C cement pads? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104763 http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2009120113.aspx Construction Workers they also have construction workers. the usual set of 12 in 3 different paint schemes http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2009120114.aspx http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104764 http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2009120115.aspx http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104765 http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2009120114.aspx http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104766 cheers jeff Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
This is rock, so I could pick up a couple sets of maid girls and then have an entire construction site full of guys leering instead of doing their jobs. Link to comment
Guest ___
It is pretty amazing if you think about it, the rate in which TT has expanded their line despite a global recession and a over inflating ¥ with a lot of J-corps scaling back with dwindling sales domestically. Link to comment
cteno4
I think its that they are keeping things pretty high bang for the buck and have the japanese market well thought through as these are diorama, collectables, and useful to model trains. the series thing also gets folks hooked and now that the series are interconnecting well also just adds to the popularity! yery smart! cheers jeff Link to comment
Hobby Dreamer
Regarding the construction worker figures, has anybody come across a good photo to distinguish the 3 colours? Thanks Link to comment
cteno4
those look like the photos of the prototypes from a show that were not yet painted... hopefully better ones as it gets closer to release. jeff Link to comment

Krackel Hopper
The updated photos on HS make them look nicer than the Maruka or Pro Hobby sets. Unfortunately, I have this pre-ordered with the trailer collection and the train girl containers, which do not come out until "late march" whenever that is. So I won't get to see the construction equipment for a few more weeks. I'm wondering what the "secret" vehicle will be. If anyone here gets it, you are obligated to post photos. I hope it's a steamroller... Link to comment
cteno4
Ok got my new Tomytec Construction set #1. nice units, the nicest construction vehicle yet. they are painted and pretty functional. detailing and action is better than the maruka and prohobby sets. parts are also painted as well, but some of the parts are not, but the plastic coloration is much better and matches the painted parts well -- much better than the other sets where it looks more like a bit of plastic toy look. Bulldozer - two versions of the same bulldozer. one with the ripper in the rear and the other w/o. blade goes up and down with sliding hydraulic pistons. Excavator/Shovel - Both units are the same, just slightly different markings. all the joints are functional and the bottom two hydraulic pistons articulate. it can be posed in any position well to dig your holes! Demolition excavator - both units are the same just slightly different markings. these are articulated and have the bottom two hydraulic pistons functional. the jaws also tilt and rotate, but dont open and close. these really lend themselves to doing a building under demolition or if you want to be really sick a few old rail cars being torn up! also would be a great for a scrap yard. could get a couple of old 1/144 airplane kits and have them being ripped up. you could even modify one of the excavators to be a magnetic lift crane easily. The Demolition excavator could also be modified with a couple pieces of plastic rod/tubing to create a jack hammer for one of the long arm jackhammer excavators. Crane - crane is the same crane in two positions. on is totally folded for transport (the main arm does articulate with functional hydraulic pistons) and the other has the fully extended boom that pops together and stabilizer braces extended. the extra extension boom is glued onto the site of the bottom arm, but could probably be pulled off to add on if you wanted it fully extended. the lift hooks are moulded in place but could be cut off and added to a string to hold a load part way up on a lift. pre order price with shipping was about $50 so well worth it for 8 vehicles at $6.25 or so each. Very happy with them and looking forward to the next set! cheers jeff Link to comment

cteno4
yes you can only imagine what happened to the poor guy standing in front of it... it is nice the construction yard building set gives you 3 of these! very important for construction scenes! i actually put all three of the construction scene sets together the other night. neat parts. im now wishing i had not glued the scaffolding to the backing plates as not quite sure that works as the tarps would probably be on the outside so it would over up all the scaffolding! i think i can cut them loose though. would be great to just put up along side a medium sized building to have some remodeling or painting going on. the set makes a nice little scene of a construction site next to a larger building going up. throw in some of the heavy equipment and make some girders and stuff there in a storage area and a flatbed truck. very nice. i dont think they use bamboo scaffolding anymore in japan like they still do in hong kong. was amazing to see bamboo scaffolding going up like 20 stories or more on the outside of high rises in hong kong! cheers jeff Link to comment
