113/115 Series train sets still remaining?

Does anyone know how many 113 and 115 Series train sets are still operational? I think JR East still has a small number running around the Niigata area, Shinano Railway runs them (but will phase them out in favor of the SR1, an E129 Series derivative), and of course there is JR West's substantial fleet (but for how long; I can foresee a big 227 Series order that will retire them all).

As of 2020 the situation is as follows:

 

113 Series trains are in service only with JR West, split between the Kyoto and the Okayama-Hiroshima areas, for a total of 132 cars.

Of those, 64 cars (formed in 3 and 4-car sets) are assigned to Kyoto depot, painted in the all-over dark green livery, and they're still in confirmed service on the Kusatsu Line and on the Kosei Line. The remaining cars are assigned to Okayama and Hiroshima depots, painted in the all-over "setouchi" yellow livery, and they're in confirmed service on the Okayama-Hiroshima section of the San'yo Main Line and on the Hakubi and the Ako Lines.

 

115 Series trains are still in service with JR East (only in the Niigata area) and with JR West (assigned to Shimonoseki depot).

 

JR East has only 22 cars of the 115 Series, formed in 3-car sets. They are used on local services on the Shin'etsu Main Line, the Echigo Line and the Yahiko Line, where most of the services are run by the E129 Series. JR West has 251 cars, all in service on the westernmost section of the San'yo Main Line, between Shimonoseki and Hiroshima and on the Ube Line.

 

Shinano Railway has 14 3-car sets (of these one was converted into the "Rokumon" tourist train) and six 2-car sets. Shinano Railway plans to replace all 115s by 2026 - as of now, there are already two SR1 sets in service.

So, 7 3-car sets and a spare car?

What happened to the S formations? Moved to the Shinano Railway?

Apparently, Niigata depot's "S" two-car sets were all retired and scrapped by July 2016. One reason for this is that they weren't modified for one-man-operation, thus they still needed both a driver and a conductor for very scarce-traffic lines (such as the Yahiko Line).

 

Their services have been taken over by the E127 and (to a lesser extent) the E129 Series, wich both indeed are one-man-operable.
