John P Boogerd
Could someone tell me the proper screws to use for fastening HO Unitrack please. Link to comment
cteno4
are you planning on screwing from the top thru the track into the baseboard or just from the bottom into the bottom of the track? jeff Link to comment
John P Boogerd
I thought it should be from the top into the baseboard like I did with Lionel Super O track many years ago. Link to comment
cteno4
You can use small friend head screws, but these will stick up some. https://www.ebay.com/itm/500pcs-M1-M2-Thread-Nickel-Plated-Phillips-Round-Head-Self-Tapping-Screws-Bolts/293182440478?var=592051411881 You can do a tiny countersink and use flat head screws to get the screw head flush with the surface. Little dab of paint then to cover it up if you want https://www.ebay.com/itm/M1-4-M1-7-Black-Oxide-Phillips-Cross-Countersunk-Flat-Head-Self-Tapping-Screws/303673542908?hash=item46b45a88fc:g:62AAAOSwCU1Y4g50 jeff Link to comment
John P Boogerd
I didn’t notice there are no holes for screws. My only experience is with Lionel super O track. Link to comment
cteno4
I don’t have any Ho unitrack, but the n scale has columns at the screw points with a hole drilled in them so you can screw from the bottom thru the baseboard or drill out the rest of the way out the top and screw from the top. I would assume Ho does the same thing. jeff Link to comment
inobu
A hot glue gun may be the best and easiest choice. Place the hot glue in the same location of the screw points. I have a test track that was done with hot glue and its held up. Inobu Link to comment
cteno4
Yes and usually if you slide a putty knife under it will pop loose if you need to move later. screwing from the bottom is a challenge as well. Screwing from the top and you have to hide the screw heads. jeff Link to comment
