Star House from Tramway

Recommended Posts

interesting new building popped up in the hobbysearch newsletter today for a jan release. from Tramway called the Suburban Landscape series number 2, so i guess there was more, but hobby search has only carried their HO stuff before. looks like a very interesting three wing 5 story apartment building. the item photo shows a photo of the prototype, wonder if it was just a singular odd building or one that was used a lot of small apartment buildings in japan.

ok some more info, ran across this at hobbyworld, they have another picture of the completed building and they say dauphin as the manufacturer, but i think they are actually more of a distributor. anyhow hobbyworld has it at 1800 yen as a 20% off preorder.

Must be your commission for plugging them - when I look at those pages it says '10%' off

Someone's aiming for the modern niche in cheap larger building sets before TOMYTEC jumps in, it seems. Quite a bargain I'd say, but too modern and large for me though. Although, I'm considering buying one or two apartment buildings for my layout... Looks very interesting and I'm all for supporting smaller companies!

doug,

whoops my bad, could have sworn that was a 20% off when i looked at it! guess it was hopeful thinking as i pre-ordered it already!

i get no commission and i am not plugging them for any ulterior motives. just hw is the one place that tends to have some deals now and then, especially with pre-orders. finding some discounts in japanese items like this is tough, there is less room for that usually in japanese channels.

I admit i do like hw a lot as they will do sal shipping and usually the best price on pre-orders around. they have also been a very helpful company to do business with. i like to share the good experiences as folks will always bring up the problems but rarely say when someone has just done a good standard job. if you read my posts you will see i do point out the problems with hw as well. the site is a mess to find stuff on and their order prep/shipping can sometimes take a few days.

cheers,

yes its too bad we dont see more of the smaller companies thru the big sources, they look to have some of the most interesting stuff! i really wonder what set 1 was?! a few show up here and there like the RM details and the pair hands auto rack trailer kit are very cool items!

you are right that even though tomytec is really great in bringing out a huge line, it does discourage other small companies getting into it, but there are good niches as you say for them to pick up between tomytec's toes!

I was curious what exactly "permil upgrade parts" are, but the site didn't have any info. I posted that here in the hope someone else (cteno4 or otherwise) would explain.

Mudkip (name?)

sorry they are little detail pieces that are out of etched metal to enhance the new aoshima buildings. for the first apartment building sets they were mainly clothes lines and things for the apartment balconies. for the start apartment it looks like finer detailed railings for the balconies maybe.
