E231-500
Hi all, I bit the bullet and have a Fujimi 2000 series Tokyo Monorail model on its way from Japan. I have searched the forum and the net in general about powering the monorail. I am aware it is only a static display model but I have read how people have powered them. Unfortunately most of the info is quite old. I am hoping to get some more up to date info on weather anyone managed to do it and how? My thought was to use a micro motor and power it by running a thin conductive wire on the tracks bus bar, then picking up power with skids? What is everyone's thoughts and ideas? Thanks in Advance. Welshbloke
It might be easier to go with on board power. You can buy small lithium cells and charger circuits easily enough (I have a handful recovered from "disposable" phone chargers, which are appallingly wasteful otherwise). Maybe a magnetic on/off switch inside the vehicle so you just wave a magnet over the roof to start and stop? Link to comment
cteno4
Nothing I’ve seen new on the powering them front. What seems to be the best option is using rollers on the top of the wheel for the units to roll on and also power. Bob Quincy did this for many Disney monorails in Ho and n scale and also created a 3d printed chassis for the greenmax monorail. Might contact bob he may have the chassis available on shapeways. Nice chap. http://monorail.suzieandbob.com/n.html Rc is the best approach, lots of toys you can cannibalize for this and even motors and gears and just beef up the lipo. some threads on this from the past https://jnsforum.com/community/topic/4677-greenmax-tokyo-monorail-1000-type/ https://jnsforum.com/community/topic/7093-monorail/ https://jnsforum.com/community/topic/5033-monorail/ Cheers jeff 1 Link to comment
E231-500
Thanks guys. Just received my monorail today. As yet haven't had a chance to have a good look (Got to love night shift) I will read through the info you have provided and I will update on anything I manage to achieve. Plenty of ideas already floating through my head. Link to comment
