I came across this video on YouTube and found it a short but interesting insight into the role and responsibilities of s Shinkansen driver.

 

I must say they are immaculate in terms of their presentation and I was highly impressed by the frequency of driver training to ensure safety and punctuality ere kept.

 

Some great innovative systems there I didn't know about, such as the speed calculator to keep relevent distance to trains in front, whilst still arriving at each designation within seconds of schedule
