Cat
Somebody with a Google backpack camera walked the length of the Minato Line (wow, that must have been a delightful hike!), and caught this well worn shunter/MoW engine in the yard at Nakaminato. Can anyone identify what it is please?https://www.google.com/maps/@36.3458828,140.5875055,3a,75y,268.11h,91.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1scx33cLEU7VxXYlD2YV7OFg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 It looks short enough that a regular N scale version, if one exists, might fit in well with B-Train Shorties. cteno4
Wow what a nice walk around the yard there and thru the shops! aru9 sort of similar but skinnier hoods https://www.modeltrainplus.net/collections/aru-nine-arumo-n-scale/products/aru-nine-track-maintenance-motor-car jeff Link to comment
Cat
That ARU-9 will do the trick unless something better pops up. The Kato 11-104 motor chassis will certainly fit right in with Shorties. The walk through the shops is stunning; and the walk along the entire freaking line is such an amazing reference for details of modelling any given section. Link to comment
bill937ca
There are a few other options. From Tsugawa https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10132729 https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/search?typ1_c=104&cat=rail&target=make&searchkey=TGW+(Tsugawa)&spage=1&ItemSeries=Diesel+Locomotive Long ago from Kawai Shokai https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10133127 1 Link to comment
Cat
Hmm, the TGW one would fit as sort of a chibi Shorty option. Whee, Cat 1 Link to comment
cteno4
Beware of the little twg’s they are cute (and there are a few others as well) but their tiny wheelbases can make them hop around and also stall on points at time. Larger Kato bogies are more forgiving. But the tiny twg are basically a Btrain shorty of the one in the picture! there is also the green max which will just fit into the green max with the smallest twg mech. You have to shave a mm or so off the inside of the cab parts to fit but wheel base is almost the same. MTP carries and can get some of the small tgw (search tsugawa) mechs. If you just want it for the effect and not run the greenmax is really cute and very expensive model to kitbash (just your style!) cute little rail cars as well. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10487580 Cheers jeff 1 Link to comment
Cat
Squeee! The GreenMax is quite cute.... hmmm.... We discussed the other two options earlier today and are heavily leaning towards the ARU-9 for a runner. And it would be my first brass engine; after all these years, finally found an affordable one that even meets roster demands. Kitbashing the GreenMax would indeed be a fun project. We could use that for scenery decoration when we're not using the ARU-9. It could sit at the end of the longest yard track and still leave plenty of room to park a Kiha. We're only doing one entrance to a pair of yard tracks. Space limitations prevent a double entrance. Just two tracks will serve operational needs and convey the essence of the real one; plus, provide a nice contrast with the larger Mito yard. Whee, Cat Link to comment
