Socimi
A 16mm color film made by Iwanami Production in 1963, fetauring C62-hauled express trains just before the switch to electric traction, with a very detailed look to training and procedures used by JNR drivers and firemans back then. A really good film with some beautiful cinematography, full of JNR goodness (C62s, EF70s, KiHa 81s and even the prototype 1000 Series Shinkansen), and with english subtitles too! Cat
Oh, and the part where they are practicing the call outs with the model railroad is brilliant. Now, Roxanne wants us to learn the JR East calls to use while we're playing trains. : 3 Link to comment
cteno4
We try to do at least the pointing technique on the club layout when moving trains around. After setting switches it’s handy to follow the train path you want and point at each turnout and make sure it’s switched to your proposed path properly. It really helps as once and a while while looking straight down leaning over the layout throwing points you can get turned around on some when in a hurry, also makes you just stop a second and slow down as folks can get hurried and do things like reverse a throttle! cheers jeff 1 Link to comment
Cat
That's also mentioned in the film, that the folks who complete the tests the fastest aren't paying enough attention. Link to comment
