I love old infrastructure plans like that, I wonder how the early version compares to what was actually built. 

 

Here in California less than half of the planned highways were actually constructed, I suspect the Japanese may have gotten a lot closer to finishing as planned.

Sorry, that's not the expressways, that's the naming plan for the main roads within Tokyo.

 

I'd be interested to know when that's from, at the very least it's missing Kannana and Kanpachi (circular routes number 7 and 8 respectively) the former at least being a key part of post-war road building (though I suppose it doesn't really have a "name").

(the main difference being the completion of the remaining C2 section, which is one loooooooong tunnel under Yamate-dori from north of Ikebukuro to where it pops up close to where JR Tokai park their Shinkansens)

Nice. Great for some reference photos. We may be doing a double Ttrak scene of 60s tokyo for an exhibit ant the Japanese info and cultural center here as they do a tokyo olympics then/now show this spring.
